OHS Cross Country dominated at the Region 10 Championships Friday at Cottonwood Complex with both the boys and girls teams taking home the varsity titles as well as having individual champions in both races! Senior Tate Beasley was the girls region champion running the hilly 2.9 mile course in 19:38 with teammate senior Sasha Willie finishing just behind her as the runner-up. Senior Eliza Loosli’s 6th place finish, followed by senior Bonita Gray in 8th and freshman Kaitlyn Blackham in 9th rounded out the scoring five runners for Ogden with an impressive 26 points over Stansbury’s 37 points. Sophomore Gem Garner also earned all-region honors finishing in 10th place and freshman Ruth Larsen ran a solid race to get our 7th runner in at 16th place! This is the fourth straight year that Ogden girls cross country has won the region title! On the boys side sophomore Jack Blodgett claimed his first region title in a time of 15:49. Sophomore Coby White was the next Ogden runner in 3rd with junior Jake Peterson 5th, senior Carter Draper 6th and sophomore Carter Parsons 11th for a team score of 26 over Stansbury’s 2nd place 41 points. Our remaining varsity runners were sophomores Bryce Montgomery and Tommy Stark who finished in 17th and 19th respectively getting all 7 in the top 20! Ogden took the title back from Stansbury, the defending region 10 and state champion. The varsity team will travel to Cedar City on October 21st to compete in the 4A state championship.
In the JV races it was a close battle between Ogden and Stansbury. On the girls side Ogden and Stansbury were both tied at 30 points and Ogden won on sophomore Ajae Belliston’s tie breaking 12th place finish. The Tigers JV team was led by sophomore Donna Gonzalez with a 2nd place finish, senior Elisa Boehm’s 3rd place, freshman Rebecca Jenks 5th place, junior Kennedy Cadiz 9th place and senior Chloe Caldwell 11th place. In the boys JV race we had another individual champion. Senior Miles Winkel won in 17:06 with freshman Noah Judd right on his heels finishing 2nd. Ogden’s remaining scoring 5 were junior Sean Feeny in 9th, freshman Collin Draper in 10th and junior Grant Godfrey in 11th. Stansbury edged out Ogden for the team title in the JV boys race by just 6 points.
