Rhyle Hanson was recently honored by The National Football Foundation. Below is a statement describing this great accomplishment from Coach Erik Thompson:
I just wanted to let the staff know what an accomplishment Rhyle Hanson just had as he was honored at the 25th national football foundation and college Hall of Fame Utah chapter awards dinner.
In the history of Ogden High we’ve only had one other receive this award which is the highest possible award to get as a senior football player in the state of Utah. That person was Blake Moore 1998.
Rhyle‘s name will be put in the college football Hall of Fame as the outstanding scholar leader athlete in the sport of football for the state of Utah along with the other 15 inductees throughout the state of Utah.
This award is given for 3 categories:
1)Athletic achievement, Rhyle was first team all state and the region MVP first team all region and broke the single-season rushing yards & total touchdown scored record at Ogden High.
2) Academics, 4.0 GPA, National honor Society, IB program and number one ranked student 2019
3) Service, bridge the gap volunteer, camp U leadership, reading tutor at local elementary‘s, ran free seven on seven Clinic, mini football clinics at elementary schools, camp counselor at Ogden football camp and Colby Bockwoldt football camp and too many other things to name.
This award comes with a $2000 scholarship & in my 19 years at Northridge I only had three kids get this award and Ogden has only got one in the history of the school.
if you see Rhyle tell him congratulations for this great accomplishment. He’s an amazing kid that will go forward & represent Ogden high in great ways in the future I am certain. I believe he is going to go to Weber State on academic scholarship and has been asked to be a preferred walk on on the football team where I’m sure he will again prove the size of man’s heart is more important than his stature!
